The 6th European Transplant & Dialysis Games (August 8th – 15th) will be based in DCU and we will be using sports facilities across the Fingal area. The Games will offer volunteers an opportunity to meet some unique people and play a key role in the success of what will be a week-long celebration of life through sport and a perfect vehicle for the promotion of organ donor awareness through the local and national media.
All of the competitors will either be people on dialysis or transplant recipients. The strength of spirit of all of the participants, and their families, allied with the profound generosity of organ donors, and their families, who have literally given the Gift of Life is a powerful combination that cannot but inspire.
We are looking for volunteers to work in every aspect of the Games (from meet-and-greeters at the airport to photographers at the venues and logistics management to entertainment co-ordinators). You will see the range of options available in the Application Form.
Ideally, we are looking for people who are available throughout the week of the Games (August 8th-15th) but there will also be opportunities for shorter term volunteer posts. If you have some friends or colleagues and you all want to volunteer together, contact games@ika.ie to discuss options.
