Passport and Visa
Non – EU nationals may require visas. Information on exact requirements should be obtained from your local Irish Embassy, Consulate or Tourist Office. See also the Department of Foreign affairs website.

Climate and Clothing
Ireland enjoys a temperate maritime climate. The weather in Dublin during the summer is usually pleasant (15 – 18 degrees). Light rainwear is recommended.
Currency and Banks
The currency is the EURO and banking times are 10.00-16.00 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Banks are open until 17.00 on Thursday.
Shopping
Most shops and department stores are open from 9.00 to18.00 Monday to Saturday with late night shopping on Thursday to 21.00. Sunday opening is 12.00 to 18.00 for most but not all. Shops and Retail stores do not close for lunch. Major credit cards are widely accepted.
Tipping
It is common to add a 10% tip to a bill in restaurants, except where service is included.
Power
Electricity Sockets take 3 prong square-pin plugs. The electrical current in Ireland is 220 volts, 50 Hz.
Time
Ireland is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) which is one hour behind Central European Time (CET) and five hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time.
Language
English is the predominant language in Ireland and is spoken by all.
